EU Design Days is an initiative of the ERRIN Design and Creativity Working Group and this year the took place at the Flemish Parliament on 24 th and 25 th of September. First, this seminar was focused at how the ECIA (The European Creative Industries Alliance) recommendations are being implemented by regional and national stakeholders in different parts of the EU. Then it discussed the added value of continuing to bring together these stakeholders to drive policies in support of the creative industries in Europe. The workshops were organised jointly by the ECIA and DG GROW with support from ERRIN.
ERRIN, the European Regions Research and Innovation Network, is a network of more than 126 European regions and their Brussels-based representatives. ERRIN facilitates knowledge exchange, joint action, and project partnerships between its members with the aim of strengthening regional research and innovation capacity. It also engages closely with the EU policy- and decision-making process to influence EU policies in order to make them better respond to the needs of European regions. The ERRIN Design and Creativity Working Group stimulates cooperation between the different Directorates General of the European Commission working on design and creativity, in order to raise awareness of the potential of design in stimulating economic development. The working group facilitates project development, raises awareness of the role of design in innovation and regional policy, and offers a platform for regions to promote their strengths in design at the EU level.
