Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić was elected as President of the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion at the assembly meeting held on 2 December in Brussels. Vice Presidents of the Euroregion are president of the Italian region of Abruzzo Luciano D'Alfonso and president of the region in Tirana from Albania Aldrin Dalipi.
Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion was created 10 years ago out of the need for the stabilization and improvement of cooperation between regions in the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea on joint projects for the benefit of its citizens. Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion has 28 regional and local authorities in the field of four EU member states: Croatian, Italy, Slovenia and Greece and the three countries outside the European Union in the Adriatic Sea: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania.
This Euroregion had the first initiative for the adoption of the European strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region, which is finally adopted and approved by the European Parliament. The successful realization of the European strategy will provide new jobs and economic growth, and the macroregion will be a door to other parts of the world, its challenges and opportunities.
