Council of the European Union decided on 26 July 2016 in Brussels that Croatia will take a Presidency of the EU in the first half of 2020.
After the referendum on leaving the UK from the European Union, the government of that country made a decision not to take over the rotating presidency, which should come in the second half of 2017.
Now it was decided that instead of Great Britain in the second half of next year will take Estonia, whose presidency was earlier planned for the first half of 2018. Following this decision all the presidency move for six months so that after Estonia chaired by Bulgaria in the first half of 2018, then Austria in the second half of 2018, while Romania and Finland will preside over in 2019. The new decision determined the order of presidencies until 2030.
According to earlier ideas, Croatia is supposed to have a presidency between Cyprus and Ireland, then in the second half of 2026. Croatia will also preside over the six years earlier than had been planned.
