European Commission organized and hosted 2016 Info Day on Smart Cities and Communities which focused on the EU initiative on global technology and innovation leadership.
The event took place on September 23, at the premise of the Committee of the Regions in Brussells. The initiative itself encourages development and implements solutions which leads to innovative business models that enable deployment at large scale. The commission reminded us to make smarter use of the new and the already existing financial resources in order to improve the quality of life, competitiveness and sustainability. The presentation targeted the possible applicants of the Horizon 2020 project, explaining the application process in detail. The key is to link smart cities to the structural funds, as the urban agenda is now considered a chapter of the EU urban policies.
