
At the initiative of the Dubrovnik Neretva and Veneto regions, on Thursday, 9 February 2017, partnership meeting was organized in Brussels to mark the opening of a new bilateral program of cross-border cooperation between Italy and the Croatia, valued at 237 million euros.
It will help both countries to improve joint monitoring of climate change, preventing natural disasters, investing in research and innovation in the sector of the blue economy and overall utilization of their marine and maritime resources. In the context of cross-border program will encourage the development of environmentally responsible tourism and the development of maritime transport.
The participants were welcomed by Hrvoje Butigan, representative of Dubrovnik Neretva region in Brussels and Nicola Panarello from the Veneto region. The main speakers were Silvia Mayer, Managing Director of the body, then Ivan Curzolo, Director of the Joint Secretariat of the program, Antonio Cenini and Eric Philippart from the European Commission- DG GROW.
The meeting was attended by Director of Development Agency Dunea Melanija Milić, Deputy Director Helena Brčić, and representatives of the regions and institutions involved in the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme.
