In April 2016, four young people from Dubrovnik-Neretva County Emanuela, Luka, Zvonimir and Domagoj participated in transnational youth exchanges within the project "yBBregions" which is, on the Croatian side, preparing the Regional Development Agency Dunea.

On 8th April 2016. the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas and the President of the European Committee of Regions Markku Markkula awarded the winners of the second European Capital of Innovation contest ("iCapital") 2016 to Amsterdam for its holistic vision of innovation related to four areas of urban life: governance, economics, social inclusion, and quality of life.

EU regions' concerns for the current Schengen crisis were at the heart of the annual meeting of the European Groupings for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), held at the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) on 20 April 2016.

The high-level conference "Attracting investment in Tourism" was organised by the European Commission on 05th April 2016. in Bruxelles with a special focus on two priority subjects for EU tourism:improving the business environment to attract more investment and to better use EU funds to boost the competitiveness of the sector and raising awareness of the investment needs to boost skills and mobility of the tourism workforce.
